REVIEW OF ECR CASIO BUSINESS IN THE COMMERCIAL CENTER "HARRRIS BROTHERS"

The commercial center Harris Brothers is a complex of department stores, markets and coffee shops of the company Habaguanex S.A., which is under the Havana City Historian Office and its has as mainobject, to convert the colonial architecture area of the city in an attractive tourist place for which has disseminated in this place a lot of shops, restaurants, small hotels, many kinds of museums among other attractions.

Specifically, Harris Brothers is located in an old four storey building which was renewed in order to install the biggest shop complex of the historical center of the city, in its turn, it represents one of the three biggest complex of this kind in the country because of its area, to be crowded, as well as the automation level it has.

This great project was submitted to a bid process at the middle of 1998 and mainly were competing the enterprises "ABC" which commercialize OMROM equipments and ours, MAXSO which commercialize CASIO equipment, moreover it was indispensable to offer to the client a solution "Turn-key Project" to guarantee full automation of the complex. For this, we had to contract and conform a working team with other enterprises because of the large profile of the required solutions.



Our enterprise started its work practically at the ending phase of the civil construction, as a way to guarantee the fulfillment of the necessary technical requirements in order to offer an efficient solution. All this process was realized in 30 days approximately, always under the supervision of our specialists.

The concerning to the installation of Management System (software), ECRs programming and training of the personnel in charge of operation of equipment took us around 15 days.

In each one of the four available floors for sales, there is an independent net of cash registers (ECR) linked to one computer (PC) in which they are carrying out the sales process, inventory control, etc. In its turn, all PCs conform a net in order to consolidate all information of the complex in a server.

Equipment and accessories installed:

  • CASIO Scanner HHS-8: 29

  • PENTIUM II 350 MHZ, 32 MB RAM, HDD 3.5GB, Ethernet ACER 10/100 with colour display 14": 5
  • Server: PENTIUM II 450 MHZ, 64 MB, HDD Scoccer 9.1 GB, Ethernet ACER 10/100 with display 14": 1
  • Switch PLANET, 8 ports to 10 Mb/s and 2 ports to 100 Mb/s.
  • HUB PLANET, 8 ports 10/100 Mb/s.
  • Cable UTP cat. 5: 1000 meters
  • Cable multicom 4 x 22: 1500 meters

The nets of the first, second and third floors have same configuration, they are composed of: seven ECRs CE-4700 with communication boards Superboard V.3 (SPB) and HHS-8 CASIO Scanner each one, linked by Online to a PC which is placed at the storage room of each floor.

In the ground floor was installed a net of eight ECRs CASIO CE-4700 with the same communication board used in the previous cases, but in addition was installed a gastronomic net with two (2) ECRs CASIO TK-2700 with communication boards I/OPB-11 linked with Inline to a board I/OPB-12 in the PC. This last configuration was analyzed with the client with the alternative of use of the communication board I/OB-9 but this alternative was rejected in spite of its lower cost because of the problem of communication speed and the high volume of information to be processed.

The software of Sales Management used (BACKPOS) has the following facilities:

  • Control of all information, including accountancy
  • Offer the possibility of follows all movement of the goods.
  • Report inventory made up to date and the previous month one.
  • Study of inventory rotation.
  • It is not necessary the starting of ECR for sales.
  • The ECR can be blocked and end task blocked during the selling for occasional inspections.
  • Make up to date the ECRs in a dynamic way during the sales.

As conclusive way, we could state that this project raised up considerably the prestige of CASIO and also ours in our country, starting from the client satisfaction.
