  • Nick owns three pubs in the prestigious town of Windsor. The pubs are in view of the famous Windsor Castle where the queen often stays. "The Royal Oak" and "George Inn" are traditional English pubs which date backs 250-300 years. "51" (Fifty One) is a modern style bar for the younger generation. All venues serve a wide range of food and have seating areas outside. Tourism is a main reason for the success of these pubs with all types of people from around the world visiting. The town is also close to Heathrow airport which makes getting there quick and easy. All three pubs use the wireless waitressing system.

  • The Menu is extremely varied for both lunch time and evening. The evening menu consists of over 50 main courses which are a mixture of UK, European and oriental cuisine. There are many varying choices such as how the steak is cooked and whether chips, jacket potato or rice is required. The BE-300 wireless system is ideal for the outside seating areas allowing staff to move from one table to another to take the orders. This saves a lot of time and means that the customers get served much quicker than if a conventional system is used. All food orders go to the kitchen and drinks orders taken at the BE-300's are printed at the receipt printer on the bar.

What was the problem with the user's system before?

  • The customer was already using competitor touch model but the software was quite old and they were not able to get a proper back-up service for both software and hardware from the supplying company. Apart from that the customer had seen wireless systems around and wanted to upgrade to a system that would allow him to use wireless at some stage.
Proposals to Nick Long
  • The UK dealer "Brandon business machines" has been selling the QT-7000 touch with the ICR touch software for over two years. Knowing it to be a proven solution, he had no hesitation in recommending it as more than a suitable solution to replace the competitor system.

How did Nick Long decide to introduce Casio QT-7000?

  • The customer was using a Casio TK-2200 in another pub and had heard that Casio also did POS systems such as touchscreens and Pads. He knew the dealer who maintained the TK-2200 and decided on Casio because he knew that a good back-up service would be there. The customer also liked the sturdy look of the QT-7000 and the staff found the software easy to use. Product price changes are easy to carry out and little training is required for new members of staff.
Improvement with the CASIO product
  • The customers are served much quicker due to the wireless order taking. In addition the security surrounding the system is in place at each venue. Nick can travel to all his pubs knowing that a reasonable level of security. These venues are extremely busy in the summer so ease of use and speed at the point of sale are absolutely paramount. The customer also wanted a system that he could add this system to back office software. Knowing that a total solution was available from Casio gave him the assurance that the whole system would fit together seamlessly and that the dealer would have no problem supporting it. The software will be installed in September to the Crown and will then be slowly implemented across his estate of pubs.
