What is the
problem with their system?
- Cineplex
was using another system, however one of the biggest problem was
that it was very difficult to modify the existing system according
to Cineplex request and the technical support was not so good
nor fast. Every time they had a problem they had to wait for service
for sometimes up to one full day. They also wanted to have details
of every ticket for their statistics.
Proposals to
the user
- ACOUSTIC
SOUND offered a small, fast and flexible solution. ACOUSTIC SOUND
realized all the customer requirements, but CINEPLEX also wanted
an easy way to program the machine. So ACOUSTIC SOUND developed
an interface for CINEPLEX so that CINEPLEX can program almost
every detail of the terminal from the PC, even the position of
every key. The software also controls the IDC file, that is very
useful for the customer need.
Competition
from other manufacturers during business negotiation
- CINEPLEX
was using another company's product, but they were not happy with
it, so CINEPLEX studied different solutions. All the tickets for
the cinema were sold using a software developed under Oracle using
Centura. They were planning to develop their own system in the
same platform. CINEPLEX investigated some PC maker solutions and
Casio QT-2000.
How did CINEPLEX
decide to introduce Casio QT-2000?
- One of the
important points for CINEPLEX was the small size of QT-2000. A
PC POS or their own solution needed very big equipment. They also
needed a solution that can give them details for every ticket
and they found IDC on QT-2000, without more time consuming as
in a PC POS. But the greatest factor for their decision was support.
ACOUSTIC SOUND offered them technical support for all their working
time, with technical personnel who can go to the customer's site
at any time when the problem occurs.
Improvement
with the CASIO product
- Right now
CINEPLEX is working with a fast system that has all their requirements.
At the end of the day CINEPLEX has all the information they need
on their head office, not only totals, they have the detail for
every transaction as they wanted. Any new item that is created
on their head office is automatically transmitted via their own
LAN (all their branchs are connected using optical fiber) to the
PC that manages each branch, and they are transmitted from PC
to all the terminals by in-line.
